Palamós is one of the most complete and authentic coastal towns on the Costa Brava — and the only town in the province of Girona with an active commercial harbour. The fishing fleet sets out daily and the catch — in particular the famous Gamba de Palamós, a deep-water pink prawn with an exceptional flavour — is auctioned each afternoon at the local fish market. That gives Palamós a raw, living character that most other coastal towns lost long ago. The historic centre, the Plaça de la Vila and the medieval quarter of El Pedró breathe a Catalan urban life that is active all year round — not just in season.

Facilities are excellent and comprehensive. International and Spanish schools, extensive medical care, a wide range of shops, weekly market and various sports facilities. Palafrugell is 5 minutes away, Girona Airport around 40 minutes, Barcelona an hour and a half. Palamós combines urban comfort with a direct coastal location — and at prices that are generally lower than in Begur or the coves of Palafrugell.

Gran de Palamós — the central town beach, wide and well-equipped, with views over the bay and harbour.
La Fosca — sheltered bay north of the centre, quieter and wilder in character. Popular with divers and snorkellers.
Cala del Canadell — small rocky cove within walking distance of the centre, with clear water.
Camí de Ronda — the coastal path connects Palamós with Sant Antoni de Calonge to the south and La Fosca to the north.
Museu de la Pesca — the unique fishing museum in the harbour, a window onto the maritime history of the region.
